The vineyard area splits into 2, the ‘cote blonde’ , with its limestone, more sandy soil, which produces slightly lighter, more fragrant and earlier drinking wines, and the dark’cote brune’, with its denser, iron-rich soils, and full inky wines.

The wines are made from the inky Syrah grape, with up to 20% Viognier permitted by AC laws, to add elegance and fragrance. Complex, structured and refined, these wines will last up to 20 years. The best known producer in this area is without doubt Guigal.

Style: Rich, intense and powerful, yet with a perfumed aroma, and a silky elegance.
