Savigny Wines

Nestled in a small valley, just north of Beaune, Savigny produces a high volume of red wine, due to its position on the fertile soils close to the river. The tiny production of white wine is very high in quality; the reds have a tendency to be lighter, and less complex, than many of their close neighbours, but have attractive, red fruit character, and most importantly, offer great value for money, ahead of many of their counterparts. However the region does also make some, more concentrated, powerful reds, which benefit from a few years of ageing.

The best of the Rhone? - Guigal
Guigal was established shortly after the Second World War by Étienne Guigal who started with another famous Rhone name, Vidal Fleury. As testament to his success, Guigal now in fact owns Vidal Fleury too. The Guigal name really came to the fore when wine critic, Robert Parker led the charge in heaping praise upon their Côte-Rôtie wines. Guigal have since purchased Château d'Ampuis in the 90s, which is now their headquarters and fittingly, the home where Étienne Guigal’s wife used to work as a…
