Chenas Wines

Chenas is one of the 10 Beaujolais Cru and also the smallest appellation. It is named after the ancient oak forests formerly covering the commune, cleared by the Gallo-Romans then by the local monks by order of Philip V of France. The name literally means “A place planted with oaks”. The wines are not often seen but are well worth finding for their strong character. The wines are incredibly floral with small black fruit, peony and spices. They can age for up to 10 years and become more fleshy in nature.
