Majestic Wine’s Christmas Deals of 2023

Save up to 40% on Champagne and 50% on Fine Wine at Majestic

Champagne Offers

This Christmas Majestic have launched two new premium deals, with savings on Fine Wine and Champagne. With their award-winning buying team at the helm, you don’t just find the brands you know and love but hidden gems and quality, artisanal wines from smaller producers that their customers quickly become fond of.

Having worked at Majestic myself for a little over 3 years, from store to head office, I’ve got strong knowledge of the range and where the top deals and value for money offers truly lie. Of course, with that comes the tasting experience of these wines too, so let me guide you to some great offers and great wines to get this Christmas.

To prep you for your toast and celebration throughout the day, you’ll find Champagne is your likely go-to, and why not? Majestic have a number of quality Champagnes from smaller producers to your big names like Veuve and Laurent Perrier. Here are my top picks:

Chanoine Frères ‘Réserve Privée’ is a vintage Champagne from the second oldest Champagne house. It’s fair to say they have had time to perfect their craft. And this Champers certainly shows it too, with flavours of lemon, apple and brioche on the fore which are followed by more age-worthy notes of toasted nuts and dried fruits. With a £20 saving bringing it to just £29.99, this is quality on price and Champagne all in one.

Another great vintage Champagne that doesn’t break the bank, yet gives the big names a ruin for their money, is the Nicolas Feuillatte 2012/15 which is currently a huge 35% off for only £22.49. There is a reason this name is the most popular amongst the French as you find a genuine bargain for the quality here. Expect richness and depth with biscuit, ripe fruits and brioche flavours.

The final vintage I’ll mention is Cattier 2012. You may have heard of the Armand de Brignac, or Ace of Spades, which sells for upwards of £300, well, this is the family behind that one. And family it is too as the 13th generation still run the house to this day. Cattier Vintage is an example of their fine style with a rich, aromatic backbone and fruit-forward palate. Expect vibrant cherry, raspberry and citrus notes with a good dollop of brioche and toast to boot. Fantastic and with £15 off it’s down to £44.99 which is why I’ve already bought a few!

For the final one I’d recommend Moët with a twist. The Moët & Chandon 'Réserve Impériale' has undergone extra ageing (30 months), giving it luxury depth and richness. Save £12 on it today and get it for £42.99. It’s definitely a big step up from the usual Moët and perfect for bringing that wow factor this year.

Fine Wine Offers

Not just for the toast, but Majestic also have you covered for Christmas Lunch too with up to 50% off across their Fine Wine range. So, get something spectacular to impress guests, friends and family and make sure that you drink as well as you eat.

One of my favourite wines on this sale is the Baron Edmond de Rothschild Montagne-Saint-Émilion. Right now, it is a whopping 50% off! Just £14.49 for great Bordeaux from one of their best names. It may not be a direct Saint Emilion, but the Montagne is known as a satellite appellation which shares similar climate and terroirs to its famous neighbours. This is a Merlot led blend with intense red berries, licorice and an earth quality, reminiscent of the very best Bordeaux in the world.

For Bordeaux fans of the left bank, you can save £15 on the Château Prieuré-Lichine 'Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine' from Margaux. This is the second wine of the renowned Chateau, again a Merlot led blend. It shines with great depth and richness as well as some lovely cassis and oak spice. Last year it sold out in a matter of days, and it would at £24.99 for this quality!

 Château Prieuré-Lichine 'Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine'

Another absolute mainstay of every fine wine shelf is The Chocolate Block from South Africa. Each vintage has a different blend to perfect the recipe based on vintage conditions, but you can generally bet Syrah will be the dominant grape. How does it taste? I think the name gives that one away. It is rich and velvety, like a top quality Monctezuma or Lindt bar. Cacao-powdery tannins further complement this effect and really drive the cocoa bean out. Dark fruit notes of bramble and blackberry are often complemented by herbal aromas of lavender and liquorice and a few years of age can add a leathery, meaty character to the mix. Delicious and £7 off at only £19.99 too!

The Chocolate Block

On the Fine White front you are equally spoilt across everything of course, but I have a few top picks. Not normally a Sauvignon fan, I find myself attracted to top quality Marlborough. And no, not Cloudy Bay in fact but Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, the passion project of the winemaker of Cloudy Bay (and arguably much better too) is just £18.74! It strays from the normal over tropical notes of lesser Sauvignon and instead refines the notes down to lemon icing, melon and ripe peach. Even a touch of red fruit creeps in adding to the complexity. If you like Cloudy Bay, you’ll love this. Not to mention it’s even cheaper!

Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc

However, there is one Cloudy Bay I do think is fantastic. That is the Cloudy Bay Te Koko. Fermented with wild yeast and treated with battonage (lees stirring) in oak barrels, this is another far cry from the usual Marlborough style. The most overriding note is the smokiness and spice coming from the oak ageing as well as some nougat. It also has incredible body which you may not have thought possible for Sauvignon till you try this. Save £15 and get it for £44.99 today. You will not regret it.

Cloudy Bay Te Koko

Lovers of creamy Chardonnay will be happy to see that Duckhorn Chardonnay from California is 44% off taking it to £24.99. The perfect wine to go with Turkey and bread sauce, you’ll find creamy notes and hazelnut complement it wonderfully.

So, whatever your drinks plans this Christmas make sure you get something special from Majestic and at a bargain too.
