What's the fuss about Jam Shed wines?
Jam shed wines hit the wine scene in 2017 and have since become the 7th largest Australian wine brand in the UK and are amassing popularity over the World too. That is huge. Australian wine producers have risen in the ranks in recent years, consistently being the most bought on the market, and it is easy to see why Jam Shed are amongst the best.
Why are they called Jam Shed?
Jam Shed gives away its inspiration very quickly. Quite simply, the founders came across a jam shed on a vineyard which produced both delicious jam and wine, and this homely simplicity is where they got their idea from. In essence, to make smooth, mouth-watering wines that are a delight for everyone. In their own words – “When the world takes itself too seriously, you need a wine that doesn’t.”
And to achieve this, quality is not compromised on. They’ve searched across the world to find the best grapes and create wine from them. Argentina, Chile, California and of course Australia are their prime targets. It may be that simple, jammy wines can be frowned upon in the wine world, but why? When you have expertly picked grapes geared up for flavour and good tasting wine, then you’d be mad to say no.
Is Jam Shed any good? - The Range
Jam Shed Shiraz – Shiraz from sunny East Australia can only be rich, ripe and dare I say jammy. It is soft and sweet with aromas of cherries, dark fruits and a spiced hint on the finish.
Jam Shed Malbec – Akin to the best malbec, this comes from selected vineyards in the famed Mendoza region of Argentina. Velvety smooth and sumptuous, it displays plum, blackberry, cocoa and vanilla.
Jam Shed Red Blend – Is this the most jammy? Maybe. It is rich & opulent, with sweet blackcurrant flavours that are enhanced with a subtle vanilla tinge.
Jam Shed Merlot – Hailing from Chile’s Central Valley, a world-renowned spot for serious quality and value as merlot goes. It is rich and easy-drinking, filled with raspberry, plum and cherry.
Jam Shed Tempranillo – Travelling into the old-world, Jam Shed just knew they had to get a Spanish Tempranillo into the mix. Jam-packed with cherry, plum and spicy oak, it’s a punchy wine.
Jam Shed Chardonnay – Another Aussie mainstay described perfectly by their own label as rich, toasty and buttery. Expect lathers of vanilla and nougat supported by ripe peach and citrus fruits.
Jam Shed Rose – Off to California now with this one, another sunny spot for ripe, juicy grapes. You’ll find ample notes of red berries and cream. A lip smacker.
Jam Shed Sparkling Rose – If you like the still one, just add bubbles and delve into a new experience. The fizz lifts the berry flavours and smoothly carries over the cream.
