Eden Valley Wines

Lying East of the Barossa Valley, the Eden Valley is less of a valley and more a series of rolling hills with some gradients so steep that vineyards cannot be mechanised. The higher vineyards are fairly exposed, with cool temperatures, whilst there are some warmer areas on the valley sides. Eden Valley is renowned for its old vine plantings, particularly of Shiraz, Riesling and Grenache. Red and white wines are produced in equal measure with Riesling the champion here. Eden Valley Riesling is dry with searingly high acidity and pure citrus fruit (lemon and lime) and floral aromas. They are able to age for a long time, developing honey, nuttiness and toasty flavours.

Shiraz is the most planted red grape, with higher acidity, more structured tannins, and lower alcohol than its Barossa counterparts. It mingles cool climate pepper notes with riper flavours from warmer regions and oak spice.
