Waitrose Cellar Light & Easy Cocktails For Summer

The sun has been shining a lot this summer, apart from a few typically English rainy days. This lovely summery weather is an excellent reason to go outside and enjoy a nice party with friends. And an outdoor party wouldn't be perfect without some fresh drinks. Waitrose Cellar have put together a few cocktail recipes to help you impress your friends and have a great time. For our first feature, we chose a selection of three light and easy ones which you can have at lunch time or in the afternoon. All perfect to enjoy holiday time!

Gin & Tonic with a Twist

Waitrose Gin & Tonic

Serves 1

  • 50ml Martin Miller’s Gin
  • 4 large strawberries
  • Black peppercorns and a grinder
  • 200ml Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water

Pour the gin into a highball or balloon glass and add 3 sliced strawberries. Fill the glass with ice and add a crack of black pepper (half a turn of the grinder). Top up with the tonic water, stir and garnish with the remaining strawberry.

Chase Elderflower Twinkle

Waitrose Chase Twinkle

Serves 1

  • Chase Elderflower Liqueur
  • 120ml Champagne or Prosecco
  • Summer berry, to garnish (optional)

Pour the Champagne or Prosecco into a Champagne flute or wine glass until ¾ full and add a dash of elderflower liqueur to taste. Garnish with a summer berry if desired.

St-Germain Spritz

Waitrose St Germain Spritz

Serves 1

  • 40ml St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 60ml sparkling wine
  • 60ml soda
  • Lemon wedge, to garnish

Fill a highball glass with ice cubes. Build the ingredients in the glass and garnish with the lemon wedge.
