Ayala Brut Majeur Champagne by Bollinger
Was £36.99, Now £27.74
France, Champagne.
Ayala Brut Majeur, backed by the prestigious Bollinger family, offers an exceptional drinking experience for any Champagne lover. Known for its finesse and pure style, Ayala is a Chardonnay led Champagne tailor-made for special occasions. It’s your chance to enjoy the expertise of House Bollinger without the higher price tag.
Catena Alta Malbec
Was £29.99, Now £22.49
Argentina, Mendoza.
Catena Alta Malbec is one of the epitome's examples of the Malbec grape. It has a lovely full, inky body with cassis and dark fruits that are well matched by cocoa and vanilla savoury elements. This is the fine wine to have with your Christmas Dinner (and one I have enjoyed in previous years with it too)!
Terre di Faiano Primitivo
Was £10.99, Now £8.24
Italy, Veneto.
This is a bit of a Waitrose favourite, the only disappointing thing is that more Primitivo lovers haven't yet found it. It's the first Organic Primitivo made by the appasimento method, which essentially dries the grapes to concentrate everything including flavour, sugar, tannin and more! It results in a complex wine brimming with intense red fruit. Oak ageing has given a nice toasty backbone and spice helping it stand up excellently with food. For the price, it is exceptional value.
Digby Leander Pink
Was £34.99, Now £26.24
England, Sussex.
I've chosen this once before for a "Buy 6" recommendation, and will do time and time again. It's an elegant English Sparkling Rose with serious flavour depth. It evokes Summer berries which help balance the superb creamy richness. It's hardly a surprise it won Gold at The International Wine Challenge.
Petaluma White Label Chardonnay
Was £16.99, Now £12.74
Australia, Adelaide Hills.
Petaluma are one Aussie producer who can challenge the likes of Penfolds & Henschke with their quality. The best bit is the prices haven't yet risen to meet these. Enter this Burgundy-esque Chardonnay with a nice creamy body and tropical, stone-fruit flavours.
Waitrose Blueprint White Burgundy
Was £11.99, Now £8.99
France, Burgundy.
My final white is another Chardonnay, because I'd always recommend that with Turkey. Hailing from the Waitrose Blueprint Range, this Burgundy is a bit of a gem in an expensive region. It is a well rounded wine given an edge by citrus flavours. Oak use is gentle making it very approachable indeed. If you are one of those who has found Burgundy prices have gone through the roof, and are no longer worth it for your old favourites, then definitely try this and discover Burgundy anew.
