Brigadiers Meal Kit

Brigadiers is inspired by the army mess bars of India, where military regiments go to eat, drinks, and socialise. The food focuses on different methods of Indian barbecue, utilising tandoors, charcoal grills, rotisseries, wood ovens, and classic Indian smokers.

The Perfect Beer and Wines to Pair with your Brigadiers Mixed Grill

Brigadiers Wine Pairing

The delicious gently spicy dishes and variety of the Brigadiers “mixed grill” can either be best matched with a hoppy fresh beer, or a bright fresh white wine. For those who insist on a red as well, a gutsy Aussie red works really well with the lamb, but I have chosen one with some freshness to also match the richness of the dish.

The ideal beer, is in fact a Germanic or even Pilser style lager. Made with Bavarian yeast and the mouth cleansing saphi hops, Brewdog’s Unfiltered Lost Lager is bright, yeasty and citric with a hoppy crisp finish. Unfiltered to retain all the flavours and yeast character. 4 cans for just £4.25 in the sale From Brewdog.

Brewdog lost lager

I have chosen two wines from Jim Barry, in Clare Valley, north of Adelaide and the slightly cooler vineyards on the hills, unlike the very warm and ripe Barossa just to its south.

For the white, Jim Barry “Lodge Hill” Riesling 2020 is a bright crisp and ripe citrusy wine. The wine equivalent of the lager above! With slightly spicy dishes I like just a touch of residual sugar, it makes the wine extra “juicy” which balances the spice. £10.99 at Majestic Wine.

Jim Barry Riesling

The red from the same Clare winery is Jim Barry “Lodge Hill” Shiraz, 2017. Again at Majestic for £10.99, this big soft round wine has the power, but also the bright fruitiness to compliment the Tandoori Lamb perfectly.
