Quinta do Ataide wines are made from organically farmed grapes grown on a fine two hundred acre vineyard that is situated in the remote Vilarica Valley of the Douro Superior. The wine is a blend of native grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinto Cao. After controlled fermentation, the wine ages for ten months in French oak, then in stainless steel vats prior to bottling.Fresh, focused aromas of red fruits with a discreet suggestion of vanilla and a refreshing fragrance of pine-needles. Full and generous palate with ripe, plummy and black cherry fruit flavors. Expressive, spicy tannins wrapped in the weighty structure. Long, satisfying finish. Pair with grilled red meat, pan seared chorizo sausage, or firm cows milk cheeses like aged Cheddar or smoked Gouda.
