Fondly remembered as the "Father of Californian Winemaking", Robert Mondavi always believed in two fundamental missions: first, to craft wines that stood among the great wines of the world; secondly to create high quality, affordable wines that could be enjoyed everyday. The first of these missions was achieved with the wines produced at the Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley. The second was realised in 1978 when Robert purchased the ‘Woodbridge Winery’ in Lodi. Robert then set up a new partnership with growers in the Lodi region resulting in The Robert Mondavi Twin Oaks range and in 1994 he introduced the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Wines to exhibit the high quality and character of the Californian coastal grapes.
