Malbec from Argentina’s Mendoza region usually guarantees a good wine, and this is just that. The nose came across as quite hefty with notes of earth and leather as well as the slightest hint of raw meat. The heftiness continues with dark fruits and a little smoky bacon element. On the palate, it was bursting with dark characteristics including cassis and wood smoke whilst ripe, dark and red fruits provided a great fruity balance. Even though I've written about this like it is one of the heaviest wines out there, the truth is the tannin is smooth and silky meaning it is actually very approachable. Just expect a big flavour kick!
