Tucked away in rolling foothills some 40 kilometres north of Genoa, the Lorenzi family run their small estate with meticulous attention to detail. The Lorenzis grow only Cortese, the traditional Gavi grape variety, and the fruit for the Fortnum & Mason cuvee is selected from a small block of old vines grown on an outcrop of iron-rich (terrarossa) soil. Grown on the highest estate in the Gavi DOCG, the altitude gives a wonderful purity and freshness to the wine. Pale gold in the glass, this Italian white has a delicate nose of Amalfi lemons, tangerine and acacia. On the palate, the lively acidity and ripe fruit lead to a long and balanced finish.
