In search of the perfect partner to our celebrated Christmas puddings, Fortnums enlisted the help of Senhor Ricardo de Freitas of the Barbeito Madeira family. Blending a long-forgotten barrel found in a disused barn with fresher, younger wines created an exciting sort of alchemy – the perfect union of opulent age and youthful freshness. Spicy on the palate with hints of toffee, this magnificent creation stands up to the powerful, rich fruit of a Christmas pudding in a way that most sweet wines just cant manage.
