Cyril Audoin is the fifth generation of his family to make wine. His growing up on the estate coincided with the rise of the village of Marsannay, which only gained AOC status in 1987. Marsannay makes great rosé but its real point of interest is as a producer of fine Pinot Noir reds. Cyril believes the potential here is largely unrecognised and he is on a mission to set that right. As David Schildknecht notes in Wine Advocate, Cyril's wines "represent some of Burgundy's better values". The estate has nearly 16 hectares of old vines spread across a variety of terroirs, offering great scope for exciting cuvées such as this. Aged for 18 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered for maximum character, this silky red is spot on with coq au vin.
