Located in Odenas, in the Beaujolais wine region, Domaine Bonnet Cotton is a young winery that owns around 12 hectares of vineyards spread across the appellations of Beaujolais, Brouilly, Côte de Brouilly, Régnié and Fleurie. The winery is housed in the old cellar once owned by the Sanvers family and founded in 1856.
The Gamay grapes come from an organically farmed plot located next to the winery in Odénas, with vines around 65 years old. The soil has a unique composition: a mixture of pink granite and diorite. After vinification in concrete vats, the finished wine ages in foudres for 8 months.
Côte de Brouilly is the estate's signature wine and the first cuvée created. It is a youthful, fragrant, and light wine that maintains all the liveliness and freshness typical of Gamay, but also has a strong character. Its clear and brilliant color has dark ruby ??tones. On the nose, it reveals fragrant aromas of dark fruits and Mediterranean herbs with a mineral background. On the palate, it is dry and balanced, with a medium body, a good concentration of fruit, and an acidic backbone of good intensity. The finish is persistent and recalls mineral traits. It is the ideal wine with pork stew and also pairs well with pasta recipes with sauce such as the classic Amatriciana.
