Steve Grimley has done it again, using his connections to secure some beautiful parcels of fruit for an iconic Black Flag blend. First impressions are that this is a typically ripe and inviting blend just like any McLaren Vale red worth its salt. It has got heaps of mint chocolate and a bit of dried herbs up front before the palate springs forth laden in rich decadent flavours of Black Forest cake and cherry liqueur. It culminates in a hint of fresh leather and a long lingering finish which, whilst tight enough, still shows the burly tannins both these grapes are known for.
