Armagia Etna Rosso tasting notes by Master of Wine, Chris Burr
This is good wine. From 700 metres up the slopes of Mount Etna on volcanic soils, this fascinating wine is made from indigenous grapes Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, which give a complex intense but "lifted" freshness of soft cherry and wild herb fruit.
This is a gentle wine, wonderfully gastronomic, and well worth trying. I am particularly fond of the best Sicilian wines, and Etna vineyards produce some real class. Laithwaites have this at £13.99 for a mixed case , or £17.99 by the bottle.
