Wine52 Case from Sicily

The latest three bottle pack from Wine52, comes with an excellent booklet explaining the interesting wines from Sicily, plus the usual tasty nibbles.

There is a Syrah, the Rhone varietal grape, which has spread to Australia (as Shiraz) and most other warmer wine growing places around the World. It has a very creative label of a wolf's face and mouth and is called In Bocca al Lupo, which is Italian slang for "good luck".

This is a good round fruity red wine, with a savoury mid palate, a great roast meat wine.

The second red is a more local grape, Nero d'Avola, an organic wine called Purato. Wine52 are excellent in their environmental approach, bottling here in the UK, to save shipping heavy glass, and this wine is bottled in 80% recycled glass, and 100% recycled cardboard. This 2020 is a firm deep red with lovey black and wild berry fruit.

The white wine of the three is a Fiano, a light fresh fruity grape mainly found further north in Campania, but this Sicilian wine has a mineral and nutty backbone alongside its fresh aromatic fruit. A good aperitif and with nibbles, fish dishes, or hard cheeses.
