Announcing Our Review Competition Winners

Congratulations to John Richardson and Nicola Holland, the winners of our "Review a wine" competition! Both will receive a fabulous bottle of Grand Cru Champagne by post as they wrote great reviews on Wines Direct!

A big thank you to all the participants who wrote amazing reviews during this competition. We really appreciate your opinion as it helps all our fellow wine drinkers make their mind while choosing a wine.

John Richardson's review of Yellow Tail Shiraz was chosen as the best review written during the competition. We loved the story of the way he discovered the wine:

Oz sunshine in a bottle.
Two of us itting for supper in a small cattle ranch cafe in NSW when a local walked in with two bottles of red wine. "Hey! Taste this. Wha'd'ya think?" "That's bloody good," we both said after a first quaff... and that was my first encounter with Yellowtail. "I reckon' I know what they done'" he continued, "they've added sweet grape juice at the end to boost the depth and flavour of it, and doesn't it bloody well work!" Well, I don't know whether he was right in this, but I do know that ever since, I can't open a bottle of Yellowtail without being transported back out to the outback. I bet connoisseurs don't rate it, but for me it is a memorable wine and a wine full of memories.

Perfect to accompany a romantic evening!
We just love this Echo Falls White Grenache Rose when we have a romantic dinner - usually a gammon steak or a beef steak with all the trimmings. Slightly sweet to our tastebuds but with a delicate distinct flavour.
