With ripe red and black-fruit flavours, hints of spice with a smooth chocolatey and oaky finish this is a vibrant and rich red. Made from 100% Shiraz grapes by Waitrose in partnership with renowned Barossa Valley winery St Hallett. Would partner well with a beef casserole or other hearty beef dishes. In The Press: "...worth splashing out on. Rich, smooth, blackcurranty with hints of spice and chocolate, it's one to savour at a barbecue." Tim Curran, The Daily Mirror, 5 June 2010 (2008 vintage)

A superb, robust shiraz created by St Hallett. Good with game and beef.

The purple pluminess of this Waitrose own brand Shiraz from the producer of The Gamekeeper drinks smoothly but leaves your palate demanding the next mouthful.

After years of trial and error, I narrowed my favourite grape to Syrah. Then I narrowed it further to Australian Shiraz. Finally I narrowed it down to Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. I've had the all D'Arenbergs etc. but this Waitrose Reserve Shiraz is my absolute favourite. My first bottle was a Mother's Day present and I must admit, the Waitrose own label didn't excite me. The fruit flavours are magnificent and it has the perfect balance of spiciness for anyone who's not keen on the smoothness of a Malbec for example. Buy it on offer and you really couldn't do any better!

This is a tremendously consistent wine which delivers superb balance across all of its flavour touch points. Luscious black berry fruit complimented by vanilla chocolate and subtle spice. Leave it to breathe or even better decant it and you will get the absolute best out of this wine. Superb with venison fillet or on its own, it has real body and structure which lends it well to red meats, cheeses and hearty stews and casseroles.
