Still red wines were added to the Rasteau Cru only as recently as the 2009 vintage, seeing a move away from the traditional fortified Vin Doux Naturel wines this Rhône region was famed for, and they still form an important part of the area's production, with still reds in a developing stage of their sure to be long and illustrious future. There's a real drive of primary fruit character to this Rasteau, fresh blackcurrants and super ripe red and black cherries are the main focal notes with hints of dried thyme and crushed rocks. A joyous bottle of red wine with heaps of drinkability and food matching potential.
