Wine Penfolds - First released by Penfolds in the early 1950s, St Henri is rich and sumptuous when young, acquiring soft, earthy and mocha characters with age. Aged in large, old vats, the wine develops without excessive oak notes. Although a small proportion of Cabernet creeps into the blend, the focal point of St Henri remains Shiraz. This supple, generous wine is immediately recognisable on the nose, which is marked by chocolate-praline and aromas of spice, raspberry, blackberry and aniseed. On the palate, it reveals a pleasant roundness with mellow tannins and flavours of black fruit, liquorice and spices. A fresh, gourmet wine on a high level, sure to please wine-lovers looking for something unusual!
