Compare Riesling Reserve, Trimbach Prices

Written about the 2009 vintage; This wine from the Trimbach family in Alsace made it into the guide last year too. "Licking stones" I scrawled across the top of my tasting note. I don't expect you to get down on your knees and give it a go. But when you taste this wine, you might try to imagine that you are licking warm, dry stones smeared with honey and squirted with lime. There is a real mineral quality to this Riesling (as indeed there should be), almost a mineral saltiness, and it's ably supported by lime juice, lemon zest and honey: ripeness and Riesling reserve in perfect balance.

...I tasted the next level up, Trimbach Réserve Riesling 2011 Alsace...last month at the big international Riesling tasting in London, it had opened out beautifully and I would recommend it for really exciting drinking from next year and for the rest of the decade.’
