Gosset was founded in 1584, making it the oldest wine house in Champagne. Although it is tiny in comparison to many of the better known brands, the quality is superb. A point of pride at Gosset is that they mature their wines for four years, which is significantly longer than the 15 months that is required for non-vintage champagnes. The Grand Réserve is a non-vintage cuvée blended from three vintages, comprising 46% Chardonnay, 39% Pinot Noir and 15% Pinot Meunier, including 12% reserve wines. The palate is rich and vinous, with lovely biscuit and fig nuances on the finish. This is a very luxurious Champagne that is perfect for special occasions.
