Fortnums Rioja Crianza is produced by Tobelos Bodegas y Vinedos, a winery situated on a hill above the river Ebro near Haro. The blend is 95% Tempranillo and 5% Grenache, and is aged 12 months in a combination of American and French oak barrels. It is then bottled and aged for a minimum of 12 months before release. The gentle ageing results in a surprisingly intense, black cherry colour and a complex powerful nose of berry fruits with hints of vanilla and spices. The palate offers a velvety softness with good tannic structure, and an extended finish.
