Greywacke was created in 2009 by Kevin Judd, chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay and instrumental in the international recognition which Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc enjoys now. The name 'Greywacke' was adopted in recognition of the high prevalence of rounded greywacke river stones in the soils of the vineyard. This Sauvignon Blanc from Kevin Judd is intensely complex, thanks to fermentation with wild yeasts and ageing in old French oak barriques. Intricate and textural, with a combination of stone fruits, patisserie aromas and fresh herbs that mingle with vanilla and a hint of smoke. The finish is succulent and crisp with almost a flinty dryness. Best enjoyed with an array of seafood appetisers, such as seared scallops and grilled prawns. 12.5% ABV
