Ever since Tony Laithwaite first worked in Castillon in 1967, he has been a champion of Côtes de Castillon. Why? Well, as recorded in Wine International, "If it wasn't for the [political] line dividing Castillon from Saint Emilion, its wines would be twice the price. The hills are the same, the soil is the same, the exposure is the same." In 1984 Tony bought Château La Clarière and has since won over 100 medals including, twice, Paris' Lauréat Prix d'Excellence. No expense is spared on the wine - yields are kept low to promote intensity, rigorous grape sorting is carried out for quality, and only the finest French oak is used. This is an elegant claret with intense fruit, mocha and spice notes. Decant and serve with fine red meat dishes.. Drink By Date - 31/12/2030. Allergens - Sulphites. Alcohol Units: 0
