Château Berliquet's vines benefit from a beautiful southwest facing slope near the famous Château Angélus and several other First Growths. The estate excelled in 2009 with what Robert Parker says is "one of their best wines in many a year" and was guided all the way by renowned winemaking consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt. Yields were only 21.5 hectolitres per hectare - around half the average, so the grapes were superbly concentrated. The wine is a blend of mostly Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon that reached a ripe 14%. This is an opulent style of Saint Emilion, the quality of which has soared in the last decade. Decant for around two hours prior to serving with classic French beef or lamb dishes..
