Where my initial concern that its 20% share of the blend might overpower, this enhancement instead makes for notes of plum, sweet spice, and peppered violets to take centre stage.On the palate, a harmonious balance opening with spiced plum then shifting smoothly to tart black cherry that is complemented by nuances of cracked black pepper spice and a faint whisper of star anise.Towards the finish, a tannic grip asserts, coating the mouth, and yet softened by the viognier to give way to a lingering peppery spice.A truly delightful experience, and one that strikes a captivating equilibrium between sumptuous, spicy dark fruit and a surprisingly gentle, fresh conclusion.
