The Camino de Sueños Carignan Syrah is the result of José Manuel Donoso following his dreams. He left his successful career as a grape and wine broker to renovate a winery - all so he could make the wines he loves. By using his old contacts, he now has access to grapes from small growers that produce the very best fruit in the Maule region, as well as grapes from his own premium plots attached to the winery.
He has enlisted the help of exuberant winemaker Jenny Villalobos, a woman who, in her own words, makes wine with "grande cojones" and turns these grapes into lavish, premium reds.
This wine is a blend of intensely flavoured, old-vine Carignan from dry-farmed, 60-year-old vines and a smaller proportion of spicy Syrah grown in the heart of Maule Valley. It has intense aromatics of succulent red cherry, earthy coconut, cracked black pepper, fennel, clove and hints of cured meats. In the mouth, it is complex with wonderful weight and structure and a seriously long finish.
