We asked Master of Wine Christopher Burr to review the Naked Wines pre-mixed introductory case and give us his honest opinion on the wines inside. Here we are pleased to present his notes on some of his particular favourites. We hope you enjoy!
Castillo Catadau Gran Reserva 2013 from Valencia. This wine has a developed aroma of old oak Wild mushrooms and ripe fruit, from extended barrel ageing. The fruit character is ripe and sweet berry and soft easy tannin making it soft.
The Luca Hodgkinson Brisas de Guarilihue 2019 from Chile. Everything it says on the tin! A light fruity easy to drink red best served slightly chilled in summer. A wine of easy drinking sweetish red berry fruit and little tannin. Another crowd pleasing straightforward quaffed.
Villebois Sauvignon Blanc 2019 from south of the Loire, is a ripe juicy Sauvignon, bright and almost luscious, unlike many New Zealand grassy, nettles and green tart apple and gooseberry character.
Janus Pinot Grigio 2019 from the North of Italy around Venice. Nice ripe juicy Pinot Grigio, with a good mouth watering acidity and ripe round character with good balance.
Branco Trevenezie by Stefano Di Blasi 2019.
This is a genuine well made wine from the Padua area of northern Italy, and with good varietal character of Grape varietals Garganega and Trebbiano. Crisp round and fruity, classic Italian white with some style and easy charm.
The Terre Di Chieti , Pecorino 2019 from Christian Patat, is a sound crisp Italian white, with a touch of ripeness making it not bone dry and a touch of tropical aromatics. Not that typical of the mineral bite of pecorino, but eminently quaffable.
