’All Mums deserve Bolly!’ The perfect Mother’s Day gifts according to Chris Burr

This Sunday 27th March is Mother's day, the weather is getting warmer, and let's hope the sun shines.
All Mothers deserve to be spoilt, so what better way than to share a bottle of pink fizz with them on the day?
All retailers now have a great selection, from good pink Prosecco and other sparklers around £10 a bottle to top Champagne at £60 plus.
I have picked a few of my favourites:-
La Gioiosa et Amorosa Rosea Spumante NV from the Veneto region seems most appropriately named as Gioiosa et Amorosa means "Joy and Love."
This pink juicy fizz made from Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc is fresh, crisp and the perfect Sunday morning aperitivo - £9.99 from Waitrose.
La Gioiosa also make a pink Vintage Prosecco stocked also by Waitrose and others for £10.99, but the best value is Waitrose's San Leo Rosato NV from the Veneto and made from the Prosecco grape Glera and Nerello Mascalese. A lovely full juicy fizz with lots of berry fruit.
Pink Champagne is now made by all the famous Houses, but my favourite from a careful and highly skilled blend of delicious Pinot Noir red wine and the usual Champagne grapes of Chardonnay, with Pinot Noir taken off the red skins to remain white, from Champagne Bollinger.
Bollinger Rose is exceptional, with lovely red fruit and bready, brioche aromas, and a crisp, very fine bubbles palate with a long aftertaste. Just £33.75 at Sainsbury’s until 27th March! All Mums are surely worth some Bolly.
If you’re a fan of shopping local, England and Wales are now producing excellent fizz. For Pink English Sparkling wine, I’d recommend Digby Fine English Leander Pink, created for Leander Rowing Club in Henley is served at the Regatta every summer. Dry, juicy with lovely fruit and guaranteed to delight every Mother, together with a big hug and kiss! £29.99 at Virgin Wines.
